The Cosmopolitan cocktail has become so popular since the 90s, in the well-known series “Sex and the City”. It is one of the most refined drinks, consumed especially by women. The cocktail recipe has changed over the years, but the best Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe remains the classic one.
A cosmopolitan, or a drink that can be simply named cosmo, is a cocktail made with vodka, triple dry juice, blueberries, and freshly squeezed or sweetened lemon juice. Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
When it came out, the cocktail was a mixture of gin and lemon juice with raspberries. This form of the cocktail was first published in 1934 in “Pioneers of Mixing” at Elite Bars. Since the ’70s, the drink has turned into a modern cocktail containing vodka and blueberry juice.
Now, the recipe for the Cosmopolitan cocktail is so well known but is constantly being created from new recipes, depending on the country or region, but the basic combination has remained that of vodka and cranberries.
How to serve the Cosmopolitan Cocktail
This cocktail is usually drunk from a glass known as a “martini glass”. In fact, it is considered by some specialists to be a type of martini. Although most recipes recommend the use of lemon-flavored vodka, many bartenders prefer the simple one recipe.
Most mixologists recommend decorating with a little pre-heated lemon peel or using a slice of lime. However, it is also served with a little orange peel, or with a candied cherry.
